bigjim 2862 posts · Joined 2007. #8 · Jan 11, 2022. I think the 3.2 is probably easier to do with the engine out, 2.4 is straight forward. Alternator is the worse job on the 2.4 and bumper off gives maximum room, which is still not loads. past cars: 147 1.6, 159 2.4. current car: Giulietta QV.
Foran Alfa 159 2.4 JTDM, Alfa dealer quoted an outrageous 7 hours labour and £1,277 to replace timing belt and waterpump. Reader got it done, including the waterpump, for £613. 20-11-2014: Speedo failed on 37k mile 2010 lfa 159. Mileometer and tripmeter still working. Quoted £1,300 for a new dashboard. I suggesterd a repair by Cartronix. 20101.6 jtdm timing belt. I have just bought my Daughter a 2010 1.6 jtdm as a runabout. it has a reasonably good history but I can find no evidence of a belt change. it runs very sweetly and with 110,000 on the clock I am guessing the belt must have been changed at some point. Whilstdoing this job I would (assuming they are the same as the 159 the G version to be honest) also be checking the ribbed belt for cracks , the crankshaft wheel that drives it (the rubber part cracks ) and, if not done before replace the ribbed belts tensioner and idler wheels.
