Terminator 2 is not aimed at kids per se. However, like Aliens, it is aimed at a very broad audience, that includes teenagers who, at the time, just wanted to see cool explosions and fight scenes. This is a repeating pattern with films from the era. Terminator 1 was a low budget horror film, and as such appealed to a more niche audience.The Terminator had the advantage of most of the scenes taking place in like homes and factories and night clubs and gas stations.
